Bournemouth’s annual celebration of arts and culture, Arts by the Sea Festival, are searching for creatives to perform at their 2020 event.

The festival will offer creatives funding of up to £5,000 for exceptional, outdoor commissions, and a maximum of £500 for other projects. Proposals that explore the newly announced theme of ‘Journeys’ will be favoured, as will applicants coming from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole areas. Anyone from the UK is eligible to apply. Interested parties can find more information at www.artsbythesea.co.uk.

The theme for their 10 anniversary will focus on ‘Journeys’. This is to celebrate the decade-long journey of bringing local artists and audiences together.

The theme will be within the wider offer of arts and culture at Arts by the Sea 2020. It will be prevalent in much of the entertainment at the festival through diverse music performances, film screenings, art and dance, and large-scale spectaculars.

Audiences at Arts by the Sea can expect to discover ‘Journeys’ in both physical and metaphorical nature. It will consider how a lifetime constitutes a journey, complete with the many challenges along the way, and how the human experience is defined by the very concept of journeys, from expeditions to destinations unknown, to the personal transformations that accompany lived experiences and relationships.

The milestone event will take place in various indoor and outdoor locations across Bournemouth from Friday 25th – Sunday 27th September 2020.
