Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, is collecting Bournemouth’s unwanted Christmas trees this January.

For the 5th year running, the charity will be helping out locals by collecting and recycling Christmas trees from homes between the 11th to the 13th January.

While there is no official Christmas tree collection this year, people living in Poole, Bournemouth and East Dorset can book a time slot for collection with the charity.

Bookings can be made online before the deadline of midnight Thursday 2nd January, or the 1,000 tree capacity is reached. In return, Diverse Abilities are asking for a suggested £10 donation, with all the money raised going ack to the charity.

Nicole Davey, corporate and community manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “This year is our fifth Christmas Tree-cycling scheme, from collecting a modest 250 trees in our first year, we can now collect more than 1,000 trees and our volunteers work incredibly hard to deliver an excellent service.

We are also extremely grateful to our sponsors; Maidmans Removals and Storage, Timbers Tree Care, Keyfort, and Waste Management Facilities Ltd who all provide their time and expertise enabling everything to run smoothly.”

Diverse abilities are a local charity who work to meet the needs of local people with physical and learning disabilities. They provide tailor-made support programmes and give families and parents a much-needed break from their responsibilities.

Diverse abilities are looking for volunteers who have vans or who are just willing to donate their time to lend a hand to help out on the collection weekend. If you are interested, please contact treecycling@diverseabilities.org.uk .
