Dorset Charity Julia’s House are bringing more joy to children following their Jurassic-themed garden makeover.

Julia’s House children’s hospice in Corfe Mullen transformed their front garden into a fun, colourful space last month, and it has been putting smiles on children’s faces ever since.

The garden, which is situated at the entrance to the charity’s hospice building, now features large wooden dinosaurs, colourful dinosaur eggs dotted throughout and coloured lights that brighten up the garden when the sun goes down.

Louise McKenna, Lead Nurse at Julia’s House, said: “It’s wonderful to see the smiles on the children’s faces as they arrive at the hospice and see the dinosaurs. It’s really brought the garden to life and made it a vibrant, engaging space for them to enjoy.”

Meeting the Dinosaurs at Julia's HouseThe new transformation was masterminded by Merlin’s Magic Wand and now includes a brightly coloured fence complete with wooden dinosaurs stomping towards the entrance, designed with the purpose of making children smile as soon as they arrive.

Elly Turner from charity Merlin’s Magic Wand said: “We are a long-time supporter of Julia’s House and when the opportunity of transforming the external entrance area presented itself, we couldn’t wait to turn this into a Merlin’s Magic Spaces project; these projects are specifically designed to transform areas such as gardens, play areas and treatment rooms into fun, magical spaces.”

Julia’s House is dedicated to supporting the families of children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions in Dorset and Wiltshire.

The charity provide regular support to children in their own homes, in the community and at their hospices and rely on the local community for 95% of the funding required to run its vital service.
