HEALTH: Harry Redknapp opens new main entrance to Poole Hospital

Poole Hospital’s new main entrance has been officially opened by Harry and Sandra Redknapp, who unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion. 

The former premier league football manager and last years ‘Im a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!’ winner was guest of honour at the event along with his wife Sandra.

The new main entrance is modern, spacious and provides more dignity and comport for patients being moved around the hospital. The new facility also boasts new shops including a Costa Coffee, WHSmith and Stock Shop.

non-executive chairman of Noviniti, the company that developed the facility attended along with the Mayor of Poole, Marion Le Poidevin, who revealed the blue plaque in honour of Lady Wimborne Lady Cornelia Guest, who founded the original hospital.

Lots of the hospital staff attended and where able to see a time lapse of the building, and a staff photo on the wall, an exact replica of one taken 50 years ago.

“The new main entrance is all about improving services for patients and helping us to deliver even better care,” said Debbie Fleming, Poole and Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals chief executive.

“It’s a very busy, thriving hospital and it will continue to be going into the future.”

Harry Redknapp held the event close to his heart an thanked the staff at Poole Hospital who took care of his wife Sandra when she fell ill last year. “Without this hospital being here we would have been in desperate trouble. I can’t thank Poole Hospital enough.

“To see a new facility open today is just amazing – the hospital is going onward and upwards, it’s so important to the people in this area.

“I think the staff here are amazing – it really is an amazing hospital”

The event was part of the hospitals Golden Jubilee Celebrations which mark 50 years since Her Majesty ~The Queen opened the hospital.
