LOCAL NEWS: We’re only human say local NHS staff

A video called ‘Humans of our Hospitals’ has been created by employees of the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RBCH) to remind the public they are more than just a uniform.

The video features a variety of staff from the Trust hoping to humanise the people working in the NHS after the NHS annual staff survey in 2018 reported that 14.5% of employees had experienced physical violence from patients, their relatives or the public.

The staff recreated the music video ‘Human’ by Rag’n’Bone Man and want the video to help the public see them as individuals who care and to encourage respect for NHS staff.

Lead singer and PA to the Trust Secretary Office, Carla Neri Dos Santos said: “I was really happy to take part in the Humans video because we need to raise awareness that Trust employees are more than just a badge and a uniform – everybody contributes so much every day, we need to see people as individuals and celebrate everything that they give to make sure our patients receive the best possible care.”

Trade union Unison and the Health Service Journal from 206-217 combined figures and suggested that, on average, there were just over 200 reported violent attacks on NHS workers every day.
