Fans of Historic Buildings Begin Countdown To Start of Annual Heritage Week this Friday 13th September.

This Friday marks the 26th annual Dorset Architectural Heritage week, part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme, this annual celebration of Dorset’s rich historic environment is organised and run by Wimborne based charity East Dorset Heritage Trust.

The event started as a small weekend in the 1990s but has now grown to attract visitors from across the UK every September.

This year, the packed 10-day programme allows visitors to enjoy over 200 events held at 70 venues across the county. With every one of them being free!

There are a number of new events alongside several returning favourites from previous years, with water mills, museums, private houses, stately homes, cemeteries, town halls, places of worship and even a few air raid shelters there really is something for everyone.

This year the event was jeopardised as long term sponsors The Institute of Commercial Management,
would be unable to sponsor the event and although they managed this year, the East Dorset Heritage Trust are now looking for more sponsors to ensure that the event can continue next year, and in the future.

Although the events are free, some are so popular that tickets need to be allocated, so for more information and ticket allocation visit the website here.
