Boscombe Lifeguards has been gifted a shiny new toy to help their life-saving efforts along the coast.

Talbot Village Trust has donated to them more than £3,500 to purchase a new quad bike which is needed to manoeuvre the group’s rescue rib.

Back in 2017, the grant giving charity provided £12,000 for the lifeguard group to purchase a new rescue rib, since named ‘Zulu’, which delivers safety cover for a number of local events such as the soon approaching Bournemouth Air Festival.

The new quad bike is regarded by the team as a new essential piece of equipment and enables them to tow the rib along the promenade and across the sand when responding to an emergency.

Janet Taylor, fundraising officer of Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Boscombe Lifeguards, said: “We are so thankful for the Trust’s continued support, as without it we wouldn’t have been able to grow our services and serve the public with the addition of the rescue rib and new quad bike.

“Our new equipment means that we can be on hand at some of the county’s most popular events and keep our community safe while they enjoy the summer.”

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust, added: “One of the many reasons why we chose to continue our support of RLSS Boscombe Lifeguards is because the team provides a vital service year-on-year and it is a priority of ours to invest in the safety of our community.”
