LEISURE: Local libraries encouraging more reading

0

Libraries across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are holding events across June to encourage more people to get excited about reading.

Those who experience problems with sight will have the opportunity to learn more about alternative format books during the Make a Noise in Libraries fortnight from 2 to 15 June.

Dorset Blind Association will visit Westbourne Library on Monday 3 June at 10.30am, and Parkstone Library on Friday 14 June at 2.30pm.

You can discover how to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks at Bournemouth Library on Tuesday 4 June, and Tuckton Library on Thursday 13 June, both at 2pm.

There will also be sessions for noisy stories and music, and how to make a kazoo.

Little ones are also in the spotlight as the libraries celebrate BookTrust’s Pyjamarama from 3 to 10 June.

Aimed to get small kids experiencing the joy and wonder of bedtime stories, there will be various activities including special rhyme, story and toddler times for 0-5s.

They are also offering a free book for children who attend in their pyjamas (while stocks last).
