Development plans for Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) and Poole Hospital are to be shown to the public on two open days.

The plans will be at RBH on the 5th June and at Poole Hospital on the 6th June. They focus on the £147m investment which will turn Poole into the major planned hospital and RBH into the major emergency hospital for East Dorset.

Poole Hospital will have a new state-of-the-art theatre complex with 10 new theatres and expanded day case provision, along with a range of outpatient, cancer and diagnostic services.

The Emergency Department on the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site will become three times bigger than it is now, offering emergency services and other specialist support for patients, including cardiology and stroke, with consultant-led care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Debbie Fleming, joint chief executive of both hospital trusts, said: “This significant investment in our hospitals will ensure that we can provide the best services in the future with the challenges of an increased population, more patients living longer with complex long-term conditions and limited resources.

“We are very glad to have the opportunity to share wider our development plans and hope people will be able to join us to learn more. We will also be sharing the plans wider online after the events for those who cannot attend.”

The Royal Bournemouth Hospital event will run from 10am to 7pm on Wednesday 5 June in the Atrium and the Poole Hospital event will run from 10am to 7pm on Thursday 6 June in the Dolphin Restaurant.
