TRAVEL: Towngate Bridge to undergo essential repairs

0

Towngate Bridge in Poole will see essential repair work taking place this week as part of the multi-million Townside improvement scheme funded through the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership.

The Hunger Hill junction will also be resurfaced at the same time, alongside the junction with Lifeboat Quay (Asda) and Towngate Bridge, meaning a number of road closures are required.

Work starts from 8pm on Saturday 27 April, where Towngate Bridge will be fully closed in both directions to enable bridge joints, waterproofing and resurfacing works to be carried out over the weekend.

Then for the rest of the week, until Friday 3 May, other closures and restrictions will be in place, such as full night closures or no right turns, in order to allow resurfacing works to be completed.

Traffic will be manually controlled for some of this work, so please take care and follow the instructions from site operatives.

BCP Council says they are still on budget and on schedule to complete the main Hunger Hill improvements in June 2019.

Wider works continue to take place on West Street and West Quay Road, including completing links for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users from Hunger Hill to Poole Bridge plus improvements to public spaces. These works will continue until 2020.

For full information on closures and restrictions for this period please check the council’s website here.
