A major landslide caused considerable damage to the seafront at Bournemouth in the early hours of Sunday morning. At 5am on Sunday 24 April, Bournemouth Borough Council staff attended East Cliff promenade & clifftop because of a reported cliff slip at the site.
Although it was reported to the council on Sunday morning, the slide wasn’t entirely unexpected with the affected areas cordoned off for safety, before the slide occurred. Despite the landslide, the promenade remains accessible on foot but both the surrounding clifftop and immediate cliff area to the top and foot of the land slip have been closed off with the Cliffside rides closed until further notice.
