Directors and staff from businesses and organisations across Dorset, including BH Living magazine will be taking part in ‘The BIG Sleep Easy’, YMCA Bournemouth‘s biggest ever sponsored rough sleeping event.
The event is taking place on November 17 at the Bournemouth Sports Club (Chapel Gate), near Bournemouth International Airport. Fundraisers will wrap up warm, build shelters out of cardboard boxes, take part in challenges, then sleep outside for the night. Their only protection will be their sleeping bag, hot drinks, and the warm messages of those who’ve sponsored them.
The aim is to raise awareness of local homelessness, and at least £10,000 of funds to support the charity’s work. Our very own Mel Boyle will be roughing it to help raise awareness of the plight of homeless people in our area as well as raise money to fund the ongoing work of the YMCA in combating the issue.
The YMCA provides support for homeless individuals, to help them return to independent living and a positive long-term future.
